This movie just knocked me down. I can't even grasp how I never heard about it with such a cast.
So a few years ago we seen this trailer and loved it. But when we seen the movie…it's a real let down. The performances were great but the film (bitchy family members and the kissing cousins ewwwww yukkkkkkkkk no thanks)
I love this movie from the core of my heart
This was an amazing film. I saw it two years ago and had completely forgotten the name or what it was about. I posted a very vague description on facebook asking if anyone knew of a family drama involving a mean old lady. Someone guessed it right lol
I live in the area. Was interesting watching them film it.
what do we call movies like these????
here for benedict cumberbatch tbh
Ivy can do better than Little Charles. He has nothing to offer her.
This is so my family…….
I really liked this movie but this trailer is really misleading bc its definitely NOT a comedy!!!
I opened it for Benedict cumberbach but I see very less of him 🙁
Music please? (I'm talking about the instrumental part in the beginning of the trailer)
They make the family in Terms Of Endearment seem like The Brady Bunch.
this movie is ligit the story of my mf life??….
I watch this trailer when i feel i'm going to murder my family , and it make me feel better everytime
KOL
favourite movie. Just brilliant and incredible actors. And a great example of a clasic borderline personality disorder.
Yes this movie is amazing, a show of great film making. Now, I knew it even after initial five minutes of film introducing Sam Shepard and Meryl Streep and Misty Upham. Whata an ensemble of 5 minutes of perfect acting! Really, stunning. And just one day ago I also watched Mr. Holmes with Ian McKellen and The girl on the train with Emily Blunt. All great actors the people I mentioned, buuuuut unlike John Wells, the other 2 directors simply ruined the movies and the great McKellan and Blunt couldn't save them even though their performances were fabulous. So, you cna have a dream team performing, and still if the coach cusck the result sucks bigtime. Bravo, John Wells.
the trailer gives the movie no credit, watch the movie because it really highlights the troubles a family goes through
what song is that though?
This movie was simply AMAZING. Outstanding performances throughout the movie. Those expecting a happy ending, get it out ya head
this movie is so heartbreaking
even the three siblings' names are similar, Julia, Juliette and Julianne
such an amazing movie but not for people who dislike drama.
I hate julia roberts and Meryl streep, this movie is like a nightmare made reality
Damn I cried too much on this movie! Stupid me that I was expecting a happy ending ;(
But why so much sadness in this movie? SPOILER ALERT: The mother stays alone all her daughters go away from her with anger!
Can someone tell me something to make my day?Cant stop thinking about it.
Okay, why does this trailer depict this movie as a comedy? It is a serious, heartbreaking movie. Liked it a lot and have never seen a better performance by Meryl Streep ( I haven't seen a lot of her films though)
Great movie if you enjoy strong acting. Excellent cast. This was based off the Pulitzer winning play of the same name. Definitely not a 'happy' movie, though.
My girlfriend lives in the house at 0:28. Like, not even joking xD
I really enjoyed this movie! What a remarkable film. This is what real drama supposed to look like. I did not find this film boring, but fascinating to watch a dysfunctional family going through such a terrible dramatic tragedy. And worst of all what kind of secrets they've kept from each other. I'm a little disappointed it didn't win an Oscar. Anywho, this is definitely one of my all time favorite films.
People with no family issues will probably find this movie boring… But we who can recognize and realte to it seek great comfort in it. It makes us feel like we're not the only ones.. And that's why it's such a great movie. Real and complicated
One of the best depictions I have seen yet of a toxic, abusive, substance addicted family. Some families are actually worse than this, yes worse. The sibling relationships were actually "better" in this movie than many sibling relationships in these kinds of families are. This is because parents who are abusive active alcoholics and abusive substance addicted often scapegoat one child (i.e. use the child as the family punching bag). Once the child leaves (sometimes for good), then the child is replaced by another sibling as the new scapegoat. The siblings then resent each other so much, they can barely speak to each other. Substance addicted and abusive families also have terrible secrets that they bring out during traumatic times (adding to an already devastating situation to increase shock and drama). The dinner table scenes were accurate.
Chiding a child for being a vegetarian (the child is vegetarian for empathetic reasons) is very accurate too. I have seen it. Empathy is looked at as a weakness in abusive families and empathetic members are used as a laughing stock and derided in this way.
A number of the commentators on this movie deride it as a bullying, narcissistic, blaming miserable movie — no, it isn't the movie's fault, or the director's fault: it is just trying to show as accurately as possible how these families are. For those survivors of families like this, it is a beginning of a long discussion.
If you are a survivor you will be able to relate to it. If you are not a survivor, you will shake your head and wonder why the world needs to see this. But many don't want to see slavery, or southern lynchings, or the Native American genocide — but being aware has made the world a better world. This movie can do the same.
I watched this movie 1-2 months ago and this is a very entertaining movie! It has an all star cast with one of my top favorite actresses Meryl Streep and also stars other favorites of mine Dermot Mulroney, Julia Roberts and Juliette Lewis! It gives you a good example of what a dysfunctional family is like. I can really relate.
Seen this movie 6 times! I'm totally obsessed with it! Simply brilliant!
brilliant movie
'Is anybody s'pposed to smoke?'
I am in love with this movie, it had me crying like a baby! Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts are incredible actresses, its unbelievable! amazing casting <3
Is it worth to watch?
