In keeping with Bird’s goal to be a safety leader within our industry, we continue to explore opportunities and initiatives to ensure and support safe production on all our projects. One such initiative, undertaken in response to feedback from our superintendents and other site personnel across the country, was the development of an orientation video to be shown to all new workers to our sites. The video is intended to ensure greater consistency in the level and scope of orientation material covered, thus improving our own due diligence in ensuring that all workers are appropriately informed of safety expectations and requirements at Bird before commencing work.
It is important to note that this video is used in conjunction with a site-specific orientation, delivered by site personnel, on the activities and risks associated with site conditions and work currently underway or planned, as well as the location of site facilities and details regarding site emergency procedures.
This is an exciting new tool in our collective safety toolbox and another example of our commitment to ensuring that Bird is a safety leader within the construction industry and that all workers on our sites and in our offices go home every day just as healthy and safe as they arrived.
Importantly, it is also a tool derived from input received from our site personnel themselves — the people who have the opportunity to see firsthand every day where we can better manage risk and better ensure worker safety. As always, Bird is committed to being responsive to those needs and to proactively identifying and addressing opportunities for continuous improvement in our safety program.
