"They really want this stuff done safely, that's what they want. They really want this done" I hope they "really" want to pay you well for what you do considering how incredibly dangerous this work is. I hope they really do." There are a lot of dangerous jobs out there, but seems like you are seriously flirting with death in this line of work.
"In America, over the past five years, a power line worker was electrocuted on average every three weeks"
Honestly, this is unacceptable. If it's not an emergency, they should be allowed to work in a slower and safer pace instead of this crazy rush.
surely there must be a safer way to do this,, like create a bypass of the area being worked on – i mean the train workers do this- so why not them?
Jousting!
This is for the novice for my previous comment. A counter rotating blade is 2 main lifting blades rotating opposite from each other cancelling out torque. The copters used with the tail blade use a blade on the tail like a fulcrum more or less power will cause the copter to rotate and fight the torque of one main lifting blade. The poor soul has to look at both rotating masses in close proximity to the power lines. Has to also fly and keep stable in X Y and Z axis. The idea of a counter rotating lift blade with an 12 foot extension and a front platform really. Rotating mass 7 feet clear and X Y and Z only 2 you have to focus on.Just saying.
You need a purpose built copter for this hazardous job a counter rotating main blade on a pedestal 12 foot of clearance and a 12 foot platform on the front of the air frame come on really this thing would be a cakewalk to build and be the ultimate line maintenance tool.
I don't see any rainbows or soy boys here, I wonder why not?
Aren't they all heroes? Just for participating! Aren't they? Sniff, sniff, poor little snow flakes living in mom's basement……..
De ionized water is a insulator.

WHERE DO THESE GUYS KEEP THERE BALLS
We never think about all the men that risk their lives so we can turn a light switch on. God bless these people
So what's the problem with using a boom truck
Why not modify the Choppers rear rotor blade to the opposite side or the pilot seat to the other side.
Okay agree it is super dangerous but seems like a little reality TV thing going there I'm sure it's hot hats off to all help build this country Union non-union either way I was a union rodbuster you want to talk about hot get you a handful all black metal pan back that is oiled before you ever get started I'll show you hot
I sware, the companies are all the same. Every job is rush, rush, rush needed to be done last week. Yet, when FUBAR happens because of the killer pace, they can manage to bring everything to a halt to fix the mistakes.
The shitty thing is the $ trumps human life.
Macgruber.
WHY DOES THE HELICOPTER NOT HAVE A FUCK TON OF SENSORS AND CONTROL LOCKS TO PREVENT IT FROM TOUCHING THE WIRE!!!. This is almost 2020, they could do it

No duh the wife is willing to do a long distance relationship with a guy who makes 250k a year
I work a 5+kW 9 ft tall Tesla coil that throws out 500++ kV….the helicopters integrity (and pilot) is what scares me….handling the juice is straightforward…
WHAT MODEL OF HELO IS FLYING.. SMALL, NIMBLE AND POWERFUL?
Fuckin fagget. "I'm going to this job". Queer. He likes his girlfriend now knowing what he does, He wants her smiling about the fact he hides that he'll be replacing spacers at 500 kv. Dude is a fucking putz. He has that girl because a white girl would say "motherfucker, you ain't gotta tell me what you're doing, just pay the rent and child support fucker". Instead, the fagget plays a game, like he's a green beret going on a mission and he cannot say what for. Fucking buttfuck queer. He is too. "Uh, I don't want her to worry". Fagget motherfucker, NOBODY gives a fuck about you and your job, so you want to make at LEAST one close friend worry. The blonde long shaggy hair boy is a fucking fagget. I'd fire his fucking ass when he would't go on a chopper.
Lord, the douchebag thinks he's the bomb because he'll climb 40 feet.
How u go about doing this kjnd of job im interested ..
Hi honey how was your day? Omg I broke a nail today, how was yours? Oh, ok I guess, just another boring day at work washing turds off of a little old harmless wire during a hurricane.
My respect to these guys I'm a commercial electrician & I don't even work 120 v hot
1:03 which is worse getting raped 500,000 times or getting electrocuted by 500,000 volts
So engine failure or loss of tail rotor effectiveness whilst attached to lines would be instant death in most cases?
It's amazing that how they love there job and enjoy afterwards hats off to you guys.
They're working in Arkansore, and they're severely behind shed yule.
I can see the application process going yada yada yada and do you have big balls?
Similar to the stress and skill of surgery but you and your co worker could potentially fry. Very interesting job much respect!
